Definitive Prostheses

| Upper Limb Fabrication |

Once you are ready to proceed with definitive fabrication, we can do several types of final laminations including:

  • Rigid: Standard external frame, typically laminated. Other materials can be specified in the notes section of order form.
  • Heavy-Duty: Extra reinforcement indicated for use with high activity levels
  • Flexible Proximal Brim: Provides additional comfort with flexibility around trim lines

Adding a flexible inner socket provides enhanced comfort for the user, which can lead to increased prosthetic wear time. There are several material options to choose from, including:

  • ThermoLyn Supra Flexible (available in 16 colors, please see chart below)
    • Most flexible option
    • Highest coefficient of friction to maximize suspension and control rotation
    • Maintains shape over time
    • Highest patient comfort
    • Works well when donning a suction socket with donning sheath
    • Typically draped for fabrication

  • ThermoLyn Supra Soft
    • Greater stability, less flexibility
    • High coefficient of friction to aid in suspension and rotational control

  • ThermoLyn Supra Soft Plus Silicone
    • Stability and flexibility of Supra Soft, with greater comfort
    • High coefficient of friction to aid in suspension and rotational control

  • ThermoLyn Soft
    • Highest rigidity
    • Lowest coefficient of friction for ease of donning and doffing
    • Works well for “push-in” or “pop-in” style donning
    • Highest stability
    • Typically blister-formed for fabrication
    • Available in 3 colors (jet black, Caucasian and white)

What is required for definitive fabrication?

*If using non-Ottobock components, they must be shipped with finished test socket for definitive fabrication

  1. Completed test socket:
    • no further modifications required
    • clearly marked trim lines for both flexible inner socket and external frame
    • clearly marked alignment lines

  2. Completed Myo UL iFab Order Form with lamination and flexible inner socket choice, componentry specifications, and measurements
    • Please specify surface finish (lamination color, clear-coat, custom fabric, etc.) *If custom fabric is chosen it must be shipped with finished test socket for definitive fabrication
    • Please specify rigid socket material in the notes section of the order form (carbon, fiberglass, etc.)
    • Photos of the test socket or rough trial set up can also be helpful

  3. Clearly marked locations for switches, linear transducers, valves, battery charging port, etc.
